Virtual Learning Journeys – Dealing with resistance and aggression

The art of bending resistance and aggression.

People nowadays express themselves much more than they used to. Often this is a good thing, but sometimes it also causes discontent and conflict. People express their emotions much more easily, more often and directly – some would even say ‘more aggressively’. You have to be able to deal with this in a professional context. If you experience resistance or aggression from clients or colleagues, it is very useful that you have the skills not to let it erupt. And to learn how to deal with outbursts that cannot be avoided.

“Those who can predict and reverse aggressive emotions of others can prevent harmful outbursts. This is not only useful for the relationship with other people, but also for ourselves.”

This means, first of all, that you must have a good sense of what irritates you or makes you angry. This virtual learning journey starts with a deepdive into what your personal triggers are and what effect they have on your brain.

Next we look at the different forms of resistance. Only when you know which form of resistance you are confronted with, you can use the appropriate conversation technique. Sometimes you have to bend along, sometimes you have to draw your limits. In this Virtual Learning Journey you will find out what you need to do when and how.
